Our Vision: At Children’s Health Council, we believe in the promise and potential of every child and teen.

We specialize in ADHD, Learning Differences, Anxiety & Depression and Autism and we serve families on the Peninsula and South Bay as well as the greater San Francisco Bay Area through our Center, two schools, Community Clinic and Parent and Professional Education. We’ve been serving kids and families for over 60 years and have impacted almost 1,000,000 children and teens so far.

Our Mission

To remove barriers to learning, helping children and teens become resilient, happy and successful at home, at school and in life.

Our Quest

We strive to remove social emotional and learning barriers for kids and families regardless of language, location or ability to pay.

Our Core Values

  • Children and Families
  • Accessibility
  • Excellence
  • Collaboration
  • Respect for the Individual

Our Founder

CHC was founded in 1953 by Dr. Esther B. Clark, one of the first female pediatricians to practice on the Peninsula. She started Children’s Health Council with a $10,000 annual budget, a largely volunteer staff and most importantly, her spirited will.

Dr. Clark had a dream for every child. She imagined a place where families could come for help. A place where kids come first. A place with integrated services and caring experts. It would be a place where families could be assured of being respected and welcomed in their own language. A place where children could develop the social emotional learning skills and resilience to reach their full promise and potential. It would have strong leadership, expert caring staff, passionate volunteers and devoted donors. It would be called Children’s Health Council.
